It’s officially trackies and tea weather, and my brain is already three winter makes deep. The heater is on, the daylight is gone by 5, and the sewing room has become the warmest room in the house. If your winter wardrobe doesn’t have at least one ridiculous, oversized, possibly Vegemite themed hoodie in it, are you even living. Cotton Fleece is a brushed back knit that gives you that soft, lofty inside and a clean smooth outside. It’s the one for hoodies, sloppy joes, big snuggly trackie bottoms, and lounge sets you’ll genuinely live in.

french terry, the everyday cosy

French Terry is the base I get asked about constantly, and for good reason. It’s lighter than fleece but still warm, with little loops on the inside that trap heat without making you sweat. Think school drop offs, weekend errands, layering under a denim jacket. Sweatshirts, joggers, easy raglan tops, kids zip ups.

A solid pick when you want something cosy that still feels playful.

260gsm cotton lycra, the layer that does it all

Cooler weather is when 260gsm Cotton Lycra really shines. It has the stretch and recovery of your favourite leggings but with enough weight to feel like proper winter wear. Leggings, longline tees, fitted dresses with a turtleneck, body suits, layering tanks. This is the base that quietly holds your whole winter wardrobe together.

bamboo cotton lycra, the next to skin softness

Bamboo Cotton Lycra is the one I keep going back to for pyjamas, undies, soft tees, and anything that touches skin. It’s silky, breathable, and feels lovely against the body all night. Aussie winter nights can swing between freezing and weirdly warm, and bamboo handles that swing better than almost anything.

Pyjama sets in a print that makes you smile when you put them on. That’s the move.

planning it into the june preorder

Here’s the timing bit, because no one likes finding out too late. Preorders at TCC close the last day of every month, so the June round closes June 30. Turnaround is roughly 8 to 10 weeks from the end of the round, which means your winter fabric will land in time for the deepest part of winter and carry you through to early spring.

Quick reminder on the basics, because we love a refresher. 1 unit equals 50cm of fabric, so 2 metres is a quantity of 4. Three print scales to play with. Mini at 10cm, Midi at 25cm, Mega at 50cm. Match the scale to the make and you’re set.
