Me Made May 2026: Inspiration for Colourful Makers
It’s the 15th of May. Which means we’re smack bang in the middle of Me Made May, and if you’ve only just remembered it exists, hello, come sit with us. 🫶🏻
Here’s the thing nobody says out loud. Loads of people don’t start Me Made May on the 1st. They start when they remember. They start when a friend posts a photo of her handmade dress and something in your chest goes “oh, right, I want that feeling too.” The middle of May is a perfectly good place to begin.
So what even is me made may
Quick version for anyone new. Me Made May is a yearly thing where sewists wear and share the clothes they’ve made themselves, all through May. There’s no rulebook. Some people wear one me made piece a day. Some do one a week. Some just use it as a nudge to finally finish that half done project that’s been glaring at them from the sewing pile. 😅
The whole point is celebrating the stuff you’ve made with your own two hands. That cardigan you’re weirdly proud of. The dress with the wobbly hem only you can see. The kids shorts in a print so loud they can be spotted from space.
You haven’t missed it
We mean it. There’s no late pass needed.
If you want to jump in today, here are a few low pressure ways to do it:
- Wear one me made piece tomorrow and actually notice how it feels
- Photograph a make you finished ages ago and forgot to share
- Pull out the project that stalled and give it twenty minutes
- Choose the fabric for your next make, even if you don’t cut into it yet
None of this has to be impressive. It just has to be yours.
The colourful maker’s version of me made may
Around here, Me Made May has a particular flavour. Forget the tasteful neutrals capsule wardrobe. This is about the joy of wearing something that looks like you. The print that makes you grin on a grey morning. The colour you’d never find on a rack in a shop.
That’s the dopamine sewing thing we keep banging on about. Making clothes because you want to, in fabric that feels like a good mood. May is a lovely excuse to lean all the way into it.
Come share your makes with us
Honestly, the best part of Me Made May is the sharing. Seeing what everyone else has been up to. Pinching ideas. Cheering each other on.
That’s exactly what the Colour Club is for. It’s our closed community group where Colour Collab lovers post their makes, ask questions, destash fabric and celebrate each other. If you’ve made something this month, or you’re about to, we’d love to see it.
Come join The Colour Collab Club and show us what you’ve been making or tag us #TCCMeMadeMay. And if Me Made May has you itching for your next project, come have a browse. Your next favourite make is probably a print or two away. 🌈
